Calonia del Sacramento, Uruguay - Pictures

Fresh off the boat and the car hire is a rip off, what to do?!

We decide to head off and explore, by foot of course!

Welcome to Colonia

There goes the ferry we came in on, on it's way back to Buenos Aires

No map made the exploration a challenge, fortunately the town is very small

The town is so sleepy the dogs are happy to chill out in the middle of the road

The gates to the old fort

Yeah I know it's hot, the jersey is to keep the mosquitoes away!

The famous lighthouse

Some old style Spanish cannons

... and on we march

Cobblestone streets throughout the town

Time for a breather by the water , we think this is where the mosquitoes breed!

The wide open tree lined avenues of Calonia - beautiful

Mosquito repelent - when in doubt ask the police!

Finally we have tracked down the Tabard, helleluja!!

V whacking on the Tabard, what a life saver!

View of the harbour

The girls enjoying the sights

V lapping up the sun as usual

More shots of the harbour

Georgie helping herself to another lashing of Tabard

Salon Parrillada, good place to stop for a drink in the heat

The flags outside our cafe

Patricia - great name and an excellent beer

Keep topping up those beers!

Ancient buildings, and some pretty old cars scattered around the town too

Time for lunch

The stunning view from the top floor balcony

V satisfied after a hearty lunch

More of the beautiful buildings in this town

A bit of random street art

Just enjoying our day

Leise and Lara hit the dancefloor - well the plaza in the town

Looking good, like a couple of pro's!

Good times!

Georgie playing the fool - well this was after a few drinks!

Cats and dogs all over this town, and not scared of strangers

Time to head for the ferry back to Buenos Aires

The Uruguay flag

Duty free - I think something got lost in translation....
